Archaeologists have informed us that In March 2019 - HMRC closed their online services portal, which was called the HMRC Government Gateway.
Since then UK tax filers have been filing their self-assessment tax return via the replacement system, HMRC Online Services.
HMRC replaced their Government Gateway Portal with a more robust replacement system. TAXO'D recommends checking it out : HMRC Online Services.
It sure is ! (but don't expect it to work anywhere other than HMRC.)
If you have forgotten your userID login for Government Gateway, you can easily find your Government Gateway user ID, or you can call HMRC on 0300 2003600, or you could dig through your old emails and try and locate correspondence from HMRC Government Gateway Service / Government Gateway UserID
If you have forgotten your password you can simply reset your old user ID and password. (have your ID and email address to hand)
TAXO'D TOP TIP - Obviously is now 2 years since HMRC close this portal so it is strongly recommended heading over to HMRC Online Services or sign up for GOV.UK Verify with the post office.
